After 26 amazing years as the owner of The Quilt Company in Allison Park PA,
I am officially RFR - Retired From Retail.
I have and will continue to wear many hats in the quilting industry, but the most difficult and time consuming of those jobs by far was being a shop owner. I encourage you to do whatever you can to support your local quilt shop and show them some love. You never know when they might be gone.
With The Quilt Company retail shop now officially closed, I can work from anywhere, so my husband and I have decided to relocate. We've chosen to move south, out of the snow and cold, very near a beach that we love. Our new home has an amazing sewing space and what happens there is what I would like to share with you.
This is not an actual photo of moving all my sewing supplies....
I moved WAY more that that.
I have a very patient and loving husband.
Sorting, packing and moving one's sewing room is a daunting task.
UNpacking and organizing one's sewing room is much more fun, but no less daunting.
My plan was to spend yesterday and today putting everything in place.
I had visions of arranging everything just so.
Then UPS delivered a box of books.
The 3 Yard Quilt books will be going with me to the Quilter's Paradise Show in St, Petersburg, FL later this month. I have bins of coordinated 3 yard cuts ready for our booth at the show.
I really should have a new sample......
So much for unpacking and organizing.
It simply feels good to sew!
